REGISTRATION OPENS
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 2, 2025

The full event schedule can be found at the bottom of this page.

Rules

Participants compete in the following age categories:

  • 7-8
  • 9-10
  • 11-13
  • 14-17
  • 18+

  1. A child younger than 7 may team up with someone who is old enough to compete.
  2. One entry per participant or team. A team entry must be registered in the age category of the oldest participant on the team. A team will compete for a single prize.
  3. Use your own LEGO, DUPLO, Mega Bloks, or other LEGO compatible plastic bricks.
  4. Entry must be your own creation, not a LEGO designed kit, project found online/in a magazine, etc.
  5. Entry must be on a base that allows ease of transportation. The base must be solid (not flimsy) and remain with the entry. Entries are dropped off in a lobby, then moved by volunteers to a gymnasium, then moved again when the contest is over. Please use a base that is stable enough for your display.
Example #1: If your display is large and/or heavy, you may need to use wood.
Example #2: If your display is a vehicle or on wheels, you may need to use a baking sheet with raised edges to keep it from rolling.
Example #3: If your display is small and simple, the use of heavy-duty cardboard or a dinner plate may suffice.
  6. Entry base must be no bigger than 2 feet by 2 feet. Entry must be no taller than 4 feet.
  7. Demonstration of motorized functionality will not be permitted during panel judging or public viewing/voting.
  8. If you competed in a previous contest, you cannot enter the same display. Your entry must be a new display.
  9. You may have a title for your display. When you drop off your display, a volunteer will give you a slip of paper for you to write your title on.

Entry Drop Off

Your entry will be inspected upon drop off. If it does not meet all the rules, it will not be permitted to compete in the contest. Contestants must remain in the lobby and are not allowed to set up their display in the gymnasium, so please build your display with minimal or no assembly required.

When you drop off your entry, you will be given a receipt with your assigned entry number, first name, last name, and age category. A photo will be taken of your LEGO creation with its assigned entry number, so there can be no mistake which LEGO creation belongs to which entry number.

Entry Pick-Up

When you pick up your entry, you will need the receipt that was given to you when you dropped off your entry.

If you cannot pick up your entry on the pick-up day, you may contact the church to schedule a pick-up time during business hours. After March 22, 2025, any entry not retrieved will be considered a donation to Pataskala Grace Church.

Contest Prizes

Within each age category there will be three winners!

  • 1st place receives a $35 LEGO Store gift card
  • 2nd place receives a $25 LEGO Store gift card
  • 3rd place receives a $15 LEGO Store gift card

If winners are not present at the award ceremony to claim their prize, they will be contacted by the church to schedule a pick-up time during business hours. After March 22, 2025, any prize not claimed will be considered a donation to Pataskala Grace Church.

Judging

Public Voting
The public will pick their favorite entries from each age category. Every public voting ballot will include one raffle ticket for a chance to win a raffle prize!

Panel of Judges
A panel of three judges will score each entry on the following criteria:

Originality: Does not contain major aspect(s) from LEGO designed kit(s). Shows imagination and creativity. Recreating a scene from Avengers may be exciting and a replica of Central Park may be well constructed and presented, but these ideas are not as original as creating a unique story or park.
Construction: Shows regard for stability and engineering. Good construction does not necessarily mean a large display with lots of bricks. Consider the quality of the build and the use of its elements and space.
Presentation: General appearance and neatness. Design can be clearly understood (judges do not question what the participant is attempting to portray).

Judges will dock points from entries in the younger age categories if it is evident an adult did most of the work.

Scoring
All public voting for an entry will be tallied, then weighted as 50% of the entry's final score. All three of the judges' scores will be tallied, then weighted as 50% of the entry’s final score.

Raffle Prizes

You must participate in public voting to receive a raffle ticket. Contestants are allowed to vote. The drawing will be held at the award ceremony.
