CONTEST SCORE EXPLANATION

The full event schedule can be found at the bottom of this page.

Rules

Participants compete in the following age categories:

  • 7-8
  • 9-10
  • 11-13
  • 14-17
  • 18+

A child younger than 7 may team up with someone (parent, sibling, friend, etc.) who is old enough to compete.

One entry per participant or team. A team entry must be registered in the age category of the oldest participant on the team. A team will compete for a single prize.

Use your own LEGO, DUPLO, Mega Bloks, or other LEGO compatible plastic bricks.

Entry must be your own creation, not a LEGO designed kit, project found online/in a magazine, etc.

Entry must be on a base that allows ease of transportation. The base must be solid (not flimsy) and remain with the entry. Examples of acceptable bases are heavy duty cardboard, wood, metal cookie sheet, dinner plate, etc.

Entry base must be no bigger than 2 feet by 2 feet. Entry must be no taller than 4 feet.

Demonstration of motorized functionality will not be permitted during panel judging or public viewing/voting.

If you entered in the previous contest, you cannot enter the same display. Your entry must be a new display.

Judging

Public Voting
The public will pick their favorite entries from each age category. Every public voting ballot will include one raffle ticket for a chance to win a raffle prize!

Panel of Judges
A panel of three judges will score each entry on the following criteria:

Originality: Shows imagination and creativity. Does not contain major aspect(s) from LEGO designed kit(s).
Construction: Shows regard for stability and engineering. Good construction does not necessarily mean a large display with lots of bricks. Consider the quality of the build and the use of its elements and space.
Presentation: General appearance and neatness. Design can be clearly understood (judges do not question what the participant is attempting to portray).

Judges will dock points from entries in the younger age categories if it is evident an adult did most of the work.

Scoring
All public voting for an entry will be tallied, then weighted as 50% of the entry's final score. All three of the judges' scores will be tallied, then weighted as 50% of the entry’s final score.

Entry Drop Off

Your entry will be inspected upon drop off. If it does not meet all of the rules, it will not be permitted to compete in the contest.

When you drop off your entry, you will be given a receipt with your assigned entry number, first name, last name, and age category. A photo will be taken of your LEGO creation with its assigned entry number, so there can be no mistake which LEGO creation belongs to which entry number.

Entry Pick Up

When you pick up your entry, you will need the receipt that was given to you when you dropped off your entry.

If you cannot pick up your entry on any of the pick up days, you may contact the church to schedule a pick up time during business hours. After March 12, 2022, any entry not retrieved will be considered a donation to Pataskala Grace Church.

  • 2nd place receives a $20 LEGO Store gift card
  • 3rd place receives a $10 LEGO Store gift card
